Need To Go Bigger With Our Composting - The compost bin we have was great when we first started home gardening a few years ago but now it’s just too small to handle all the yard and kitchen waste we’d like to compost.
A second compost bin would help but if it’s the same size as we have it won’t be enough either. So we are looking to build a compost bin that’s much bigger and for less money.
I have been watching a few Youtube videos about building your own compost bin and I now think that this is the way we should go.
Building a bin will give us the flexibility to make it bigger than those we might purchase, even if they aren’t as pretty to look at. Of course we want a compost bin that will give us the best results for our effort.

With our existing compost bin I use it until the contents are pretty much composted and then I just pull it off the compost pile and move it somewhere else and start again. This way I have compost I can start using in our vegetable garden while still producing more compost, but it’s still not enough.
How To Build A Compost Bin Using Palettes
I’ve watched a few how to build a compost bin videos on Youtube and found a lot of people use old palettes. We would like to build on the cheap if possible so I am keeping my eyes open to see if I can find any palettes for free.
There are a few things I will do differently when building my palette compost bin but Rachael’s idea works just fine.
I also watched a video where a guy was building a three bin compost bin using palettes, just like Rachael has done for one bin. I like the three bin method but it might just be more than we need for our yard and gardens.
